The following are some of the most frequently asked questions about the services Wellbeing Consultancy provides. Please contact us free on 0800 298 0601 if your question isn't covered below, for more information about our services, or to book your first session.
What's a session with Christine or Nigel like?
It depends on what you need as we work with people on an individual basis. However, in the initial session you can expect an in-depth conversation to establish both the nature of the problem and a friendly working rapport, followed by an explanation of various interventions and the application of those, leading to the results you're looking for. Subsequent sessions will vary depending on the kind of work we're doing with you, and the techniques we're using.
How many sessions will I need?
Again, this depends on the nature of the problem with which we're helping you. Three to five sessions of one or two hours will suffice for most problems. However, when dealing with long-standing complex problems we'll work with you for as long as it takes. One two-hour session is usually all that is required to Stop Smoking. We include a free backup service for those few people who require it.
How does hypnosis work?
Our mind works on two levels - the conscious and the unconscious. We believe we make decisions, think, and act with our conscious mind. In reality all our actions, decisions, thoughts and feelings are influenced by our unconscious mind - the part of the mind which is quietly working away in the background without us being aware of it.
In the relaxed state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the unconscious mind. This allows us to negotiate with and update ways of thinking, feeling and behaving so that they're in line with what we want and need now. In this way, it's possible to achieve unprecedented changes in behaviour and attitude with a lot more ease than you'd expect.
Will I go to sleep in hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation achieved by following gentle and beneficial suggestions. It isn't a sleep state. If you're suffering from insomnia, you may well fall asleep in hypnosis. However, most people (although deeply relaxed) do not fall asleep.
Will I still be in control during hypnotherapy?
You're aware and in control at every moment, and can terminate the session at any stage. It's your willingness and cooperation which allows us to hypnotise you.
Anyone who wants to be hypnotised can go to a deep level of trance and achieve successful results using hypnosis. However, if there's an unconscious motive for not doing so, we can usually work with this in another way until unconscious cooperation is achieved.
Any difficulties people have during therapy we view as feedback and a part of the process of understanding which we're going through together, on the way to a successful result.
Are there any harmful side effects?
None. In the hands of a qualified Hypnotherapist you're totally safe. We're working with your subconscious mind, and its job is to protect you. It wouldn't allow you to come to any harm, and neither would we.
How does hypnosis help me stop smoking?
Because smoking is a habit, it's controlled by the unconscious mind. We use a number of methods to work directly with the unconscious to help you make the transition into being a healthy, happy non-smoker - it may only take one session to quit!
What is a 'Right Question'?
A Right Question is a question asked about the self when you know how the mind works and why it works that way. It is an informed rather than an uninformed question.

What is Reiki, and how can Reiki help?
Reiki is a simple yet powerful hands-on energy system. It's gentle and safe, and can reduce or eliminate pain, balance emotions, and stimulate the body's metabolism and detoxification systems. It can help you to let go of emotional patterns, and empower you to deal with life's challenges.
Who can learn Reiki, and how?
Anyone can be attuned and anyone can learn to do Reiki. If you feel you would like to do so, please contact us for more information and upcoming Reiki course dates.
What conditions can be treated with Reiki?
Whatever problems you have in your life, Reiki sessions will help. There's a link between physical illnesses and stresses of all kinds. Your response to the stresses you encounter in life will depend on your individual experiences and how they've affected you. Much of the Life Force Energy which you need to keep well gets wasted when you're stressed, and Reiki can help to replenish that deficit, often leading to spontaneous improvements or even complete remission of symptoms.
Can I just talk to you?
Sometimes people really want someone to talk to, to help them work through an issue. When conversations with friends and counsellors haven't given you the understanding you need about yourself, we can inform you correctly about the unconscious elements which are affecting your situation, and people usually find this extremely helpful and often very comforting.
